Tips Keeping your Computer Fully SecuredKeep your antivirus program up to date and always running. Studies suggest that it takes approximately 20 minutes for an unprotected computer to become infected. If your computer has been severely compromised, you may need to resort to more drastic measures. Run a virus scan on all of your private data, and then back it up at a separate storage location. Another great way to always be safe is to disable any administrative privileges on your computer. Adjust your security levels or use a guest profile for any day-today, simplistic tasks. If you are someone who simply browses the net and checks for e-mails, perhaps an administrator account is not necessary, as they tend to be a vulnerable to any installations and incoming traffic online. In An Average Life How Much Time Does a Person Spend Waiting At Traffic Lights? a) 3 Weeks b) 5 weeks c) 9 weeks d) 17 weeks Fun Story Senor ComputerA Spanish teacher was explaining to her class, that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designed as either masculine or feminine. A student asked, "What gender is your computer?" The teacher decided to split the class into two groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves if computers should be a masculine or a feminine noun. Each group was asked to give reasons for its conclusions. The men's group decided that "computers" should definitely be of the feminine gender ("la computadora"), because: 1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic; 2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incompatible to everyone else; and 3. Even the smallest mistaked are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval. The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be masculine ("el computador"), because: 1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on; 2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves; 3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and 4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model. The women won. |
